You’ll probably get to Kaş by minibus from Fethiye or Antalya, but national bus companies Kamil Koç, Metro and Pamukkale serve Kaş as well with direct night buses to Ankara, Istanbul and İzmir.
Among the main minibus companies is Batı Antalya Koop (Western Antalya Cooperative).
Here’s information on ferries to Meis Adası (the Greek island of Megisti/ Kastellorizo, Castellorizon). (You can stay overnight or for several days on Meis/Megisti, but there is no guarantee that there will be a place for you on a return voyage.)
The nearest airport is Dalaman, Muğla and is about a 2 hour drive from Kaş. The Antalya airport, however, is the nearest international airport and is a 3 hour drive away.
Since Kaş is a relatively small beach city, it is quite reasonable to walk or bike everywhere within the city limits. If you are wanting to leave the city and visit nearby spots such as Patara Beach, you can go with a tour group, hire a taxi or private transfer. Everything else is easily accessible by walking, but just be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
Distances & Travel Times
Antalya: 185 km (115 miles) NE, 3 hours & 35 minutes. There are mini buses and several large buses daily in the warm months (June to September) between Antalya’s main bus terminal and Kas’s otogar, stopping at Demre/Kale, Finike, and the access roads to Olimpos, Çiraıi, Phaselis and Kemer. Fewer minibuses off-season.
1) Take bus number 600 from Antalya Havalimani airport to Antalya city bus station (Antalya Otogar). This bus runs every 30 minutes. You may need to hail the bus to stop, as it is a jump on/jump off service. This bus often waits at the departure area
rather than outside arrivals. It looks like a ‘local’ bus rather than a large agency bus. This journey takes approximately 45 minutes and the bus station is the last stop in Antalya. The cost for this journey is 4.20TL and needs to be paid to the driver (only Turkish Lira is accepted and it must be paid in cash).
2) When at Antalya bus station, you need to find the stop for the bus to Kaş (pronounced Kash). The service is operated by Baki Antalya agency. Buy a ticket costing 128TL from the station or online prior to your trip. It is the Antalya-Fetiye VIA
Kemer route that you should take. (Antalya straight to Fetiye by-passes Kas and travels inland rather than by the coast.) Buses run at regular intervals, every 2 hours, the buses usually run from 7am til 9.30pm. Schedules and tickets are online at:
www.batiantalyatur.com.tr The bus ride from Antalya bus station to Kaş bus station lasts for approximately 3.5
hours. The buses are comfortable, some provide free wifi.
The best way to get to Kas is to rent a car or hit the road in your own car. The road passing through Kemer, Kumluca, and Finike is full of beautiful views. After Finike, the road twists and winds along the coast. Although this can make driving a pain, this seaside road is absolutely beautiful.
Driving along the edge of seaside cliffs, you’ll pass many small beaches. Make sure you swimsuit is easily accessible because you’ll want to stop at every one. They are all free. The water is turquoise and incredibly clear.
Another alternative is taking the inland road from Antalya, passing over the Taurus Mountains to reach Kas. This road is 187 km long.
The distance between Istanbul and Kas is 860 kilometers and the drive takes 9 hours. On the way from Ankara, if you turn at the Korkuteli Junction and head to Kas via Elmali and Gombe, you’ll cut 100 km off of the drive when compared to the seaside route.
