Taking the bus around Antalya is one of the easiest, quickest, and most cost-friendly ways to get around. While the bus driver may or may not speak English, he will most likely understand you if it is a popular destination such as the beach, a mall, or the airport. Turks are very friendly people, and if you feel lost or confused, just stop someone and ask for help.
The first thing that you will need is a bus kard. These can be found at little kiosks near many major bus stops such as the one by the big 5M mall in Konyaaltı. The bus card itself is very affordable but will need to put Turkish Lira on it to be able to use it. These cards can also be used on the Tram.
The best way to navigate the buses is through the AntalyaKart transportation app. This app has every bus route and bus stop mapped out, so that you can easily choose a destination on the map and see which bus will take you there and when it is coming. A great feature about this app is that every bus stop has a 5 digit code written on it that you can type into the app and see every bus that is coming and how far away it is. You can save your favorite bus stops and locations for easy navigation in the future. You can also find the card refill stations by looking on the map.
Long-Distance Buses in Antalya
For transport from the airport to the surrounding provinces, long-distance buses are the best option. These buses are modern and comfortable and there are numerous operators. One of the best known is Kamil Koç, followed by Ulusoy, and Metro Turizm, to name a few.
They depart from the central bus station in Antalya. Buses are very cheap, for example a more than 500-kilometer journey from Antalya to Cappadocia is possible at a low price. However, in the high season, the trips are much more expensive.
Antalya
Antalya first came to the limelight with the discovery of the Karain Cave, one of the oldest human settlements in the world. It hosted many civilisations from near and far thanks to its favourable climate and abundant plant and animal life. Located in southwest Anatolia, the Gulf of Antalya was known as the Gulf of Pamphylia in ancient times. Even though Antalya was established much later than other cities on the Gulf like Side, Aspendos, Perge and Phaselis,it grew at a rapid pace due to its natural harbour and its mountain passes which enabled access to the interior regions. While these prominent cities of the past were abandoned over time, Antalya not only continued to exist, but flourished and is today one of the most important cities in the Mediterranean region. In the second half of the 20th century, strides made in the tourism sector bore fruit in a very short time. With its natural environment, historical attractions and world-class facilities Antalya has become one of the most important tourist centres in the world.
ABOUT ANTALYA CITYThe Gulf of Antalya, located in southwest Anatolia, was known in ancient days as the Gulf of Pamphylia. The mountain ranges encircling the Gulf run parallel to each other along the coast, but later intersect each other at the Lakes Region to the north.
