The Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA), established on March 25, 2023, under the Society Registration Act of 1860, is an autonomous body with the goal of advancing sports and athlete development in Bihar. The primary objective of BSSA is to discover, nurture, and offer platforms for talented athletes throughout the state. It accomplishes this through various training camps, initiatives, and collaborations with state sports associations, coaches, and district sports officials. These partnerships enable BSSA to create policies that foster the growth of sports and the welfare of athletes.
To support its mission, BSSA has set up state-of-the-art training facilities for a wide range of sports, including volleyball, kabaddi, javelin throw, archery, and chess, at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna. In addition to providing infrastructure, BSSA also organizes events for popular sports, reinforcing its commitment to developing both sports culture and athletes in Bihar.
